Central Falcons power past Crossland Cavaliers 38–19 at home

By Olen Kelley, OK3Sports

Capitol Heights, MD — The Central Falcons delivered a complete performance on both sides of the ball, defeating the visiting Crossland Cavaliers 38–19 on Saturday afternoon. Behind balanced quarterback play from Deangelo Bryant and explosive runs from Zahmari Winston and Elijah Miller, the Falcons kept momentum from start to finish, improving to 5–3 on the season.

Bryant leads balanced offensive attack

Senior quarterback Deangelo Bryant was steady throughout, completing 10 of 16 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns while adding 21 rushing yards and a score on the ground. Bryant’s accuracy kept Crossland’s defense stretched out, finding open receivers on crossing routes and fade patterns to control the tempo.

Falcons’ ground game sets the tone

Zahmari Winston opened the game with a powerful 22-yard touchdown run, setting an aggressive tone that carried through the day. Elijah Miller followed with an all-purpose performance — 70 rushing yards and 106 receiving yards — totaling 176 yards and two touchdowns. Miller’s versatility gave the Falcons options from multiple formations, turning short passes into big gains.

Jefferson stretches the field

Junior wideout C. Jefferson was a key factor downfield, hauling in two catches for 90 yards and a touchdown, including a 50-yard reception that flipped field position early. Jefferson’s speed forced Crossland’s safeties to play deeper, opening up opportunities underneath for Miller and Bryant to exploit.

Defensive grit limits Cavaliers’ rhythm

The Falcons’ defense held firm despite a few deep shots from Crossland senior Marquise Lesane, who threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Central’s secondary tightened in key moments, preventing explosive plays in the second half. Senior lineman Demarco Trotter made his presence known up front, adding a touchdown on a short-yardage carry and applying consistent backfield pressure.

Team effort fuels late surge

Central’s balanced effort produced 318 total yards185 rushing and 133 passing. The offensive line anchored long drives that wore down the Cavaliers’ defense, while the defense stayed disciplined to protect the lead. The Falcons’ closing drives showed poise and execution that reflect a team gaining confidence heading into November.
