Cold Start, Strong Finish for the Lady Pumas
On a cold Friday afternoon, the Wise Lady Pumas battled the Flowers Lady Jaguars in a tough matchup that started slow but ended with a convincing 20-6 victory for Wise.
The opening ten minutes saw no scoring as penalties and missed flags stalled drives.
Wise finally broke through when quarterback June Tabron connected with Kennedy Wyatt on a pass that put the Lady Pumas on the scoreboard for their first touchdown of the day.
Flowers answered later in the half with a score of their own, but both teams missed their extra-point attempts, keeping the game tied at 6-6.
Natalie Kelley Leads the Charge
The Lady Pumas found their rhythm behind senior captain Natalie Kelley, who delivered two rushing touchdowns and totaled over 100 yards on the ground.
Her powerful runs set the tone in the second half and sealed the win.
Armani Tuesday also contributed solid rushing yards, helping Wise control the tempo and the clock.
Coach Ferguson’s Message
Head Coach Nick Ferguson didn’t hold back after the game.
He called it “an ugly win” and said the team must correct its mistakes if it expects to make a deep playoff run.
“We can’t keep playing like that if we want to go far in the playoffs,” Ferguson said. “Take it as a lesson and get better.”
Even with the slow start, the Lady Pumas kept their composure, finished strong, and added another win heading into postseason play.
