Wagner junior L.J. Butler, scored three touchdowns and the Thunderbirds took a 61-0 victory over Brackenridge on Friday night.
The win at D.W. Rutledg Stadium in Converse put Wagner at 5-1, 4-0 in Class 5A. Brackenridge fell to 3-3 and 2-2.
Butler scored on runs of 1, 5 and 28 yards.
Darrion Thomas went in from 16 yards out as part of a 41-point first quarter for Wagner.
Josh Cobbs, Joerell Brown and Matthew Sam all caught touchdown passes for the Thunderbirds.
Star of the game: Butler carried 5 times for 71yards and three touchdowns.
Play of the game: Brown completed an 88-yard drive on Wagner’s first drive a reception from Isaiah Williams for Wagner ’s first touchdown.
By the numbers: 449, Wagner ran for 267 yards and passed for 182 for a total offense of 449. … 128, Brackenridge had 13 yards on the ground and 115 through the air for a total of 128.
What’s next?: On Thursday, Brackenridge is at the Alamo Stadium to take on Hurricanes. Wagner will take on Highland on Friday.
