Quarterback Tobias Weaver rushed for four touchdowns as Wagner moved to 2-0 on the season in District 13-5A-I with a 56-0 victory on Saturday night at D.W. Rutledge Stadium in Converse.
With Weaver operating the controls in Wagner’s option attack, the Thunderbirds moved to 3-1 overall and have outscored their two district opponents thus far 111-0.
Behind Weaver, a two-headed monster at running back is developing. Sophomore L.J. Butler and Karlton Black have emerged as two sure-handed options out of the backfield. On Saturday, Black rushed for two touchdowns on the night. All eight of Wagner’s touchdowns on the night were on the ground.
Jordan Patterson and Isaiah Laday also added got into the end zone for Wagner.
Wagner will stay at home next week against Edison at 7:30 PM. Wagner will be strutting in after a win while Edison will be stumbling in from a loss. As for Lanier, they will face off against Houston.
