Veterans Memorial 35, Martin 33

Jaden Sommers and Imari Motley accounted for four touchdowns to lead Veterans Memorial to a 35-33 Class 5A Division I Bi-district playoff win over Martin.

Motley’s four-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter clinched the victory.

Jaden Sommers (two yards rushing) and Imai Rutley (60 yards rushing) added two touchdowns apiece for the Patriots.

Joseph Richardson was 13-for-22 passing for 182 yards, one interception, and threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Balin Jackson.

Martin trailed the entire second half, QB Matthew Duron finished 12-of-26 for 184 yards and threw three touchdown passes to Jorge Castaneda, which finished their season 6-5.

The Veterans Memorial Patriots improved to 8-3 with the victory and will advance to the next round of the playoffs in face Veterans Memorial on Friday at the Alamodome, while Martin dropped to 6-5 to end the 2018 football season.
