Reagan 30, O’Connor 7
Reagan built a sizeable first-half lead and coasted past O’Connor 30-7 to advance to the second round of the Class 6A Division I state playoffs.
In continuing their postseason the Rattlers (9-2) handed Panthers (10-1) its first loss of the season.
Steven Opella put the Rattlers on the scoreboard first with a 27-yard field goal, Opella added two more field goals in the second half for 18 and 26 yards.
Travis Sthele completed 10 of 19 passes for 183 yards, Sthele also had 14 carries for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Jacob Cho added a 9-yard touchdown in the second quarter for the Rattlers.
Reagan led at halftime 24-0.
The Panthers could not find the end zone until late in the 4th quarter, David Dodd threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Chase Locke to prevent a shutout.
The Reagan Rattlers improved to 9-2 with the victory and will advance to the next round of the playoffs in face Judson Rockets on Friday at the Alamodome, while O’Connor dropped to 10-1 to end the 2018 football season.
