28-6A

Marshall 14, Stevens 9

Marshall even its record at 2-2 by way of two rushing touchdowns in the final six minutes of the game from junior Marcellus Davis as the Rams held off Stevens, 14-9.

Stevens led 3-0 entering the fourth quarter before both offenses kicked into high gear in the final stanza.

Bernard Dankyi rushed for more than 100 yards for the fourth time this season after transferring from Virginia, while Davis added 85 yards and scores from 4 and 2 yards out, respectively. The latter gave the Rams an 11-point lead with 2:08 remaining.

Dankyi, a senior, has rushed for an average of 162.3 yards per game and has rushed for seven touchdowns.

Running back Clarence Lee rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown to lead the Stevens offense. His 3-yard plunge into the end zone with less than a minute remaining in the game gave the Falcons a glimmer of hope. But it was to no avail as both teams even their records at 2-2 for the season.

Along with Dankyi, Lee is another breakout late-bloomer in District 28-6A. Lee is also on a four-game streak with 100-yard performances and averages 140 yards per game to go along with three touchdowns.

Marshall will take on Clark next Saturday at Farris Stadium, while Stevens will face Warren on Saturday at Gustafson Stadium.
