Judson quarterback Michael Chandler II looked down field and saw two things: 80 yards and unlimited possibilities.
The senior QB Chandler started the final drive from Rockets 20 completed two passes (42 and 36 yards) on a 3-play drive, capped by a 5-yard touchdown run with 56 seconds left in the game, to give the Rockets a 51-48 win over Steele Knights at Lehnhoff Stadium.
Judson stat sheet: Michael Chandler scored on runs of 2, 1 and 5 yards, finishing with 134 yards on 15 carries, and added 5-of-11 passing for 179 and one touchdown. De’Anthony Lewis delivered touchdown runs of 1, 10 and 1-yard and finished with 229 yards on 21 carries. Amarea Bailey-Davis turned in two catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Linebacker Treylin Payne picked up two points on extra point return.
Steele stat sheet: Jaylon Jones opened up the scoring for the Knights with a 69-yard touchdown run. De’Quavion Thomas logged in 12 carries for 91 yards and four touchdowns, scoring on runs of 1, 1, 12 and 5-yards. Wyatt Begeal finished with 15 rushes for 64-yards and scored on a run 21-yards, and added 19-of-23 passing for 284 yards and one touchdown.
Next week: Judson will host San Marcos Rattlers, while the Knights will battle Clemens Buffaloes in a rival game.
