Churchill 24, Roosevelt 20
Derek Perez ran a one-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to lift Churchill to a 24-20 victory over Roosevelt in a hard-fought battle on Friday night at Heroes Stadium.
Churchill led the stat sheet with 298 yards of total offense, including 56 rushes for 283 yards and one catch for 15 yards.
The senior QB Derek Perez ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries. Perez scored on runs of 11, 26, and one yard.
Jacobe Jackson put the Rough Riders on the board first with a 3-yard TD run. Rashad Owens also added two, four-yard TD runs in the 3rd and 4th quarter. However, it wasn’t enough to get past the Chargers.
Churchill improved to 5-5 and 4-3, Roosevelt fell to 4-6 and 3-4.
Charges will match up against Brandeis for round one of the playoffs at Gustafson Stadium on Friday.
