Brennan quarterback Jordan Flores hit Darryon Tolefree on a 44-yard touchdown pass with :24 remaining to give Brennan a mild upset win over previously-unbeaten Brandeis on Friday night, 27-20.

After a scoreless first quarter, Brandeis opened the scoring with a 33-yard field goal before Flores hit Jordan Smith on a 72-yard dagger with 10:51 remaining in the second quarter to put Brennan in front.

Javon Grimes, who rushed for a team-high 87 yards, added a 5-yard run with :37 remaining before intermission to extend the Brennan lead to 14-3.

Flores scored on a 1-yard touchdown plunge in the third quarter, making the score 20-3 after a failed point after attempt.

Brandeis would not go away easily with 17 unanswered points all coming in the fourth quarter. After Lopez booted a 44-yard field goal, sophomore quarterback Jordan Battles and Harvard linebacker commit Brent Malone rushed for touchdowns. Malone’s 19-yard run with 2:54 left and Lopez’s extra point tied the score at 20.

Flores completed 8-of-17 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bears, while Smith finished with 92 yards on three receptions. Brennan moved to 3-2 and 2-1 with the crucial district victory, while Brandeis fell to 4-1 and 2-1 in district play.
