Darius Kemper led the way as Westlake Wolverines basketball edged Springbrook 43–42 on Friday night in Waldorf, surviving a tight, physical non-conference game that stayed in doubt until the final possession.

Neither team found an offensive rhythm early. The game settled into a half-court battle marked by long possessions, contested shots, and defensive pressure on both ends. Westlake built small leads, Springbrook responded, and the margin stayed within a few points throughout the night.

Westlake finished quarters strong, particularly in the second and third, then executed late to secure the one-point win.
